Preserved Lemons: Ancient Indian Cure That Will Help You Treat Many Aliments!

In Indian and North African cuisine the preserved lemons are very popular ingredients because of their benefits. You can use them as an addition to smoothies, juices, salads, meat dishes, or any food you want, and they are healthy as well. Here is the recipe:

  • 4 to 6 organic lemons
  • 1 tbsp of sea salt per lemon
  • A jar
Remove any stems in the lemon and cut a deep X shape in both ends. After that divide the lemon in half and put in a tbsp of salt. Do the same with the other half. Repeat this procedure for all of the lemons. Then, take the jar and put salt at the bottom.Press the lemons filled with salt into the bottom. After this, squeeze the lemon together into the jar so they make a juice. Add a little bit of salt on the lemon at the end.

Take the jar and close it well and leave it like that for 2 to 3 days. Press the lemons down every day so they are below the lemon juice. After 3 days put the jar in the fridge and leave it for 3 weeks until the rinds pickle. Rinse the lemons. Then, the pulp and any seeds should be removed, and then the rind chopped or minced. If you store them in the fridge they can last up to 6 months. The rind is the thing that is used from the preserved lemons. All you have to do is to remove the lemon, wash the salt, take off the flesh and then you can add the rind to every food you want.
